Huntington Junior College offers a variety of classes through online learning. In addition, the Accounting, Administrative Technology, Business Management, Medical Coding, Realtime Reporting, and Substance Abuse Counseling Assistant Associate’s Degrees can be completed entirely online.
The online classes use an internet-based classroom where you can post assignments, participate in student discussions, and take exams.
The classes have weekly assignments with due dates and times. However, you do not have to be logged on at any specific time during the week, but you must make sure your work for the week is submitted by the due dates.

Online learning is not for everybody. You must be able to set priorities and deadlines for yourself. You also need to be comfortable with different types of technology.

Distance Learning State Authorization
The U.S. Department of Education has published rules regarding institutions participating in Title IV funding that offer distance learning in multiple states. These regulations, which must be met by 2014, require that eligible universities and colleges document that they have legal authority to operate in all the states where they are providing instruction, or show that they are in the process of becoming compliant.
Huntington Junior College is in the process of working with each state to achieve or maintain compliance. In some circumstances, HJC may deem that it is not feasible for the College to meet the guidelines or fees associated with a state’s approval process. In those cases, HJC will not accept enrollment from students in those states.
Distance education students at Huntington Junior College should attempt to resolve complaints with Huntington Junior College faculty and administration. The College catalog describes internal complaint procedures. Typically, working directly with the College, students can satisfactorily resolve any issues. In addition, the U.S. Department of Education requires that institutions offering distance learning provide students and prospective students with contact information for filing complaints with any relevant state official or agency that would handle student complaints.
